So happy I tried this recipe there are so many out there and you pick one to make and it has always been disappointing until now. I pinned both bread recipes the yeast one and the 90 second one and went for the 90 second since because not enough almond flour on hand. Wow so good!! No weird taste it really does toast up great like regular toast finally get that crunch. Thank you for all the work you put in to perfecting recipes. Finally found a bread recipe I will make again and again. Will try the yeast one soon. 🙂

I’m a little late to comment but I had to say how amazing this bread tastes. It has a chewy crust and light a fluffy inside. I’ve been keto for over two years and trust me I’ve tried every bread recipe out there. My husband and two kids, 10 and 7 years old, are also full keto and it’s unanimous that this was their favorite. I made this recipe adding 1/2 more of all the ingredients and ended up with a nice sized loaf. Thank you. Will definitely keep trying all your recipes. You certainly hit this one out of the park.
Toasting it did no good as it had that “plastic” smell that Mizzsingbabe mentioned. I tried cutting a very thin piece, loading it with butter, garlic powder, salt and grilling in cast iron fry pan, then broiling it but still cannot get past the plastic/smell taste. So I wasted 3 cups of (not cheap) almond flour along with all the other ingredients.
I have made this bread and as everybody knows it is wonderful. I have one problem though, my son loved it but the next day he told me he was gasy and a bit painful. I know that fiber causes some gas but I was wondering if you know from your experience with so many people, if this will go away after a while or does it mean that he shouldn’t eat any psyllium husk anymore…

The goal of the ketogenic diet is to keep you in this fat-burning metabolic state of ketosis. This is achieved by following a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that includes only moderate amounts of protein. Foods like bread, cereal, processed snacks and sugary drinks are therefore off the table, while fattier foods like butter, grass-fed beef, fish and also non-starchy veggies take center stage, providing the majority of daily calories (as much as 70–80 percent).

The Mediterranean diet is palatable and easily sustained. In addition, recent studies have shown that when compared to a low fat diet, people on the Mediterranean diet have a greater decrease in body weight, and also had greater improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and other markers of heart disease -- all of which are important in evaluating and treating metabolic syndrome.
The best way to prevent metabolic syndrom is to adopt heart-healthy lifestyle changes. Make sure to schedule routine doctor visits to keep track of your cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. Speak with your doctor about a blood test called a lipoprotein panel, which shows your levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides.
Carbohydrates ultimately break down into glucose. Many people believe that carbs are bad for people with diabetes. This is not true. Carbs are fuel for the body, so they have to be eaten. You just need to be smart about which ones you eat and how much you eat of them. Picking foods that are high in carbs but have no other nutrition is not smart. Examples of these foods are:

Am Purple Amy by name, I have been diagnosed of genital Herpes for 3years I lived in pain with the knowledge that I wasn’t going to be well again I contacted so many herbal doctors on this issue and wasted a large sum of money but my condition never got better I was determined to get my life back so one day I saw several post about Dr excel the herbalist how he’s used natural herbal roots and herbs to cure this particular virus. immediately I contacted excel on his email address excelherbalcure@gmail.com we spoke on the issue I told him all that I went through and he told me not to worry that everything will be fine again so he prepared the medicine and send it to me through ups delivery including a tree root which he said was very important and told me how to use it.. after 14days of usage the Pain, itching, and sores were gone after about 2months, am the happiest woman on earth now. this testimony is real. thanks to Dr excel God bless you. you can also reach him on his number +1 (859) 429 1007
Hello Angie, the same happened here. The taste is great except the bread did not rise. It came out flat. Do I have to slice the load in the middle to get it to rise? I replaced the ghee with regular butter but everything else was the same. Also I read on a different site that if the eggs are not room temperature than that would definitely effect the rise of the bread. I took the cold eggs straight out of the fridge to get the egg whites. What do you think?
Practically speaking, because it takes several days to raise blood ketone levels by following the ketogenic diet it has been virtually impossible to study the effects of ketosis on brain injury in humans. It is also complicated by the difficulty in quantifying the extent of the damage without repeated imaging and there is a lack of reliable biomarkers for concussion. Furthermore, concussions can’t be ‘administered’ to humans experimentally, making it impossible to study in a controlled setting. Therefore much of the proof of concept research looking a ketosis for concussion has been done in animals. Nevertheless, the results are promising: rats who were given a ketogenic diet or ketone precursors before67 and after68 a controlled concussive injury have were found to have improved brain energy metabolism, and improved cognitive and motor function post injury. Also, giving exogenous ketones as an injection post-injury protected the brain against glutamate induced excitotoxicity69 and alleviated the decrease in brain ATP that occurs due to the depression of glucose metabolism70. Therefore, as scientists’ ability to quantify concussion in humans improves, ketosis could be an interesting intervention to attempt to reduce the harmful after-effects.

This “lazy” keto bread recipe is anything but boring: Crumbling the butter directly into the dough creates moist and tender biscuits for all your sweet and savory recipes. Plus, this recipe takes 30 minutes from start to finish and keeps each biscuit macro-friendly at 3 net carbs. Stay more Bulletproof and use the sour cream and whey protein swaps suggested in the recipe, plus avoid eating flaxseed too often.
Ketogenic diets have become popular in recent decades for their demonstrated positive effects on weight loss (Bueno et al., 2013), though the precise mechanism of action is not fully understood (Paoli, 2014). In fact there is contradictory data about KD in mice and rats. In fact, there are contradictory data about KD in mice and rats. For example whilst a huge amount of data confirm that KD in humans is effective in weight reduction, improving lipidemia and glucose tolerance (Bueno et al., 2013), it has been recently demonstrated that a long-term KD (22 weeks) caused dyslipidemia, a pro-inflammatory state, hepatic steatosis, glucose intolerance and a reduction in beta and alpha cell mass, all without weight loss in mice (Ellenbroek et al., 2014). Two considerations should be made: (1) the induction of ketosis and the response to ketosis in humans and mice are quite different and (2) mice and humans have different life spans, and results obtained in mice after several weeks on the diet can correspond to months on the diet in humans (Demetrius, 2005, 2006).

Hi Maria, I love your bread recipes but can’t get over the one thing, the gritty texture you get in one every couple bites due to the psyllium husk, I have tried different brands and all have it. I haven’t tried Jay Robs yet. But have you tried ground up chia seeds instead by any chance? I read somewhere to just add twice the amount of water. Thanks
By dramatically shifting energy metabolism towards ketogenesis and fatty acid oxidation, ketogenic diets are likely to have a profound effect on mitochondrial function. However, despite the rapidly growing amount of research on ketogenic diets and their effects on various disease states, only a small amount of this research has focused on mitochondrial function or oxidative stress. The well-established increase in fat oxidation induced by a ketogenic diet [7, 8] clearly indicates prominent connection with mitochondrial function and, in turn, oxidative stress and mitohormesis [5, 6, 9]. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to describe the current, but limited, understanding of how ketogenic diets may affect mitochondrial function and resistance to oxidative stress, particularly within the context of extending human healthspan.

If you are someone who has struggled with the roller coaster of blood sugar management, I have some good news! Research shows that there are common herbs and spices, likely ones that you already have in your kitchen, that have some potential positive effects on improving blood sugar. Today, I’m breaking down some of the superstar herbs and spices that data has indicated may help with blood sugar management.

Natural herbs have cured so many illness that drugs and injection cant cure. I”ve seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people”s lives. i read people”s testimonies online on how they were cured of herpes, hiv, diabetics etc by Dr. Ogba Kosu, so i decided to contact the doctor because i know nature has the power to heal anything. I was diagnosed with hiv for the past 7 years but Dr. Ogba cured me with his herbs and i referred my aunt and her husband to him immediately because they were both suffering from herpes and they were cured too .I know is hard to believe but am a living testimony. There is no harm trying herbs. He is also a spell caster, he cast spells to restore broken marriages and a good luck spells to prosper and excel in life. I have been on a low carb keto diet for more than a year. As T2DM my A1C dropped from 9% to 5.4% & I discontinued meds. All my lipids improved even with ample healthy saturated fat. More than a year now so I wonder why this would be a short term improvement when its obvious that I will not go back to a high A1C and taking 3 diabetes medications including sulphonylureas. It is clear from this article that you lack the necessary experience that would be gained from wholeheartedly trying the diet or monitoring patients doing it properly like me. I would be probably be facing my first amputation if I believed the negativity in your article. So for people with diabetes who may be dissuaded by your article. Ignore it and take back your health by restricting carbs (<25 g a day) or as low as you reasonably can below 130g while being satisfied that you are getting adequate nutrition.

All of the factors associated with metabolic syndrome are interrelated. Obesity and lack of exercise tend to lead to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance has a negative effect on lipid production, increasing VLDL (very low-density lipoprotein), LDL (low-density lipoprotein – the "bad" cholesterol), and triglyceride levels in the blood and decreasing HDL (high-density lipoprotein – the "good" cholesterol). This can lead to fatty plaque deposits in the arteries which, over time, can lead to cardiovascular disease and strokes. Insulin resistance also leads to increased insulin and glucose levels in the blood. Excess insulin increases sodium retention by the kidneys, which increases blood pressure and can lead to hypertension. Chronically elevated glucose levels in turn damage blood vessels and organs, such as the kidneys.

While I do not really miss bread I do occasionally like a grilled cheese. I think this will also work well as a hamburger bun this Summer. It is a bit salty even when using unsalted butter, so I might cut that back a bit. It made a great grilled cheese though. I made mine in a small rectangular pan then cut it in half and grilled it in my cast iron pan with cheddar. Wonderful!

In order to simulate a bread-like texture without using gluten, grain free and gluten free bread recipes often use a variety of different flours and binders. We’ve tried so many keto bread recipes that taste way too eggy or too much like almonds or coconut. The trick is to find a combination of ingredients that yields good flavor, as well as bready texture and a loaf that rises nicely.
