I made this bread several times by grinding the jay robb psyllium husks, but never got a good loaf. Then I bought the now brand psyllium husk powder and it worked without turning purple. I did have to weigh everything and cook it about an hour and a half or longer. When I cooked it the first time it sank in the middle. If you don’t have a vitamin or blend tech this is the way to go.

Ketolysis is the process of breaking down ketones to ultimately provide energy through the Krebs Cycle and mitochondrial oxidative (using oxygen) phosphorylation. Ketone bodies are broken down in the mitochondria of virtually all tissues in the body. The liver is a notable exception, being unable to utilise ketones as a fuel because liver cells lack acetyl-CoA thiolase, a key enzyme in the ketone oxidative pathway. BHB enters the mitochondria of the cell through a monocarboxylate transporter, undergoes conversion to acetoacetate by BHB dehydrogenase and then addition of a CoA group from succinyl-CoA by 3-oxo-acid transferase. The resulting acetoacetyl-CoA acts a substrate for the formation of two molecules of acetyl-CoA in a reaction catalysed by acetyl-CoA thiolase. Acetyl-CoA is then available to condense with oxaloacetate and enter the Krebs cycle.
I made the bread yesterday but came out wet and gummy. I will try again but I would recommend anyone trying this bread for the first time to just make half the recipe until you get it right so you are not wasting expensive ingredients. I used the egg white powder with the recommended amount of water on the egg white can in addition to the 12 oz. of water called for in the recipe. The bread tastes good, but is fairly dense. I didn’t have many eggs and wanted to try the recipe, but I think next time I’ll use fresh egg whites. I’ll also have to figure out what to do with the leftover yolks.

Though I don’t believe your bottom line is strong enough since you simply stating that the diet is “hard to follow” and food is “notoriously unhealthy” without evidence going deeper into why those “notoriously unhealthy” foods are worse than keeping carbohydrate-heavy food that are addictive and give the body a quick sugar high for energy. I believe “hard to follow” is your opinion only, since acceptable Keto foods are found at all restaurants easily and also all grocery stores. All the foods you mention: “rich in very colorful fruits and vegetables, lean meats, fish, whole grains, nuts, seeds, olive oil, and lots of water” are all Keto-friendly. Many people have been on a Keto-diet for years. A healthy lifestyle is a healthy mindset change and making right choices – it’s not going to be easy.

Such ionophores are therefore commonly used to measure maximal mitochondrial respiration. In mice fed a ketogenic diet (Bio-Serv F3666, ∼6  :  1 ratio of fat to carbohydrate + protein) for 6 days, respiration of hippocampal mitochondria was fully uncoupled with the ionophore carbonyl cyanide 4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenylhydrazone (FCCP) [146]. The ratio of respiration during oxidation of palmitic acid to maximally uncoupled respiration induced by FCCP was greater in response to the ketogenic diet, indicating increased uncoupling [146]. Although this interpretation relies on the assumption that ATP production was not changed by diet, it is further supported by the higher levels of UCP2, UCP4, and UCP5 detected in mitochondria after the ketogenic diet. The increase of AMPK activity in the hypothalamus may increase food intake and hepatic glucose output in mice while the decrease seems to reduce food intake (Zhang et al., 2009). KDs can also act similarly to a caloric restriction on AMPK (Newman and Verdin, 2014). Interestingly, AMPK seems to have opposing actions on the liver, muscle tissues and the brain: in liver and muscle AMPK activation increases FA oxidation by decreasing malonyl-CoA concentrations (Malonyl-CoA is the first intermediate in the lipogenic pathway and is also an inhibitor of carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1 (CPT-1). CPT-1 activity can be limiting for FA oxidation), through the inactivation of the acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACC1). AMPK can also increase the activity of malonyl-CoA decarboxylase (MCD), which enhances the decrease of malonyl-CoA levels.

Add mozzarella and cream cheese to a large microwave-safe bowl. Cover the cream cheese with mozzarella (this will prevent the cream cheese from overheating and making a mess in your microwave). Melt in the microwave at 30 second intervals. After each 30 seconds, stir cheese until cheese is completely melted and uniform and resembles a dough in appearance (see photo for reference).
