Menopause is the time in a woman's life when menstrual periods permanently stop, also called the "change of life." Menopause symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, irregular vaginal bleeding, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, urinary incontinence, weight gain, and emotional symptoms such as mood swings. Treatment of menopausal symptoms varies, and should be discussed with your physician.
If someone has already had a heart attack, their LDL ("bad") cholesterol should be reduced below 70mg/dl. A person who has diabetes has a heart attack risk equivalent to that of someone who has already one and so should be treated in the same way. If you have metabolic syndrome, a detailed discussion about lipid therapy is needed between you and your doctor, as each individual is unique.
Last point of background: Everything I’ve just presented is based on data from starving subjects.  If one restricts carbohydrate intake, typically to less than about 20-50 gm/day (dependent on timing and carbohydrate composition), and maintains modest but not high protein intake (because protein is gluconeogenic – i.e., protein in excess will be converted to glycogen by the liver), one can induce a state referred to as “nutritional ketosis” with similar physiology to what I’ve just presented without resorting to starvation.  Why you’d do this is something I will discuss later.
The ketogenic is known to improve the metabolic syndrome risk factors [8]. Type 2 diabetes is like a subset of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome can be seen as the umbrella term harboring the conditions necessary for setting you up for outright type 2 diabetes, and a low-carb or ketogenic diet may even prevent the development of the condition.
There are two main types of diabetes. In Type I diabetes, the insulin producing cells in the pancreas are destroyed by an immune response resulting in insulin deficiency. In Type II diabetes insulin is still secreted, but the cells in the body no longer respond adequately and so glucose uptake is not triggered. Sometimes pregnancy can trigger a period of diabetes (gestational diabetes), which resolves after giving birth.
When your carb intake is that low, your body can't burn glucose (a.k.a the sugar from carbs) for energy like it normally would. So instead, it burns fat for energy, a process that then releases ketones as a byproduct, says Eric Klett, M.D. an endocrinologist and associate professor of medicine and nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (This process explains why people on the keto diet see such crazy weight-loss results.)
While it is believed that carbohydrate intake after exercise is the most effective way of replacing depleted glycogen stores,[72][73] studies have shown that, after a period of 2–4 weeks of adaptation, physical endurance (as opposed to physical intensity) is unaffected by ketosis, as long as the diet contains high amounts of fat, relative to carbohydrates.[74] Some clinicians refer to this period of keto-adaptation as the "Schwatka imperative" after Frederick Schwatka, the explorer who first identified the transition period from glucose-adaptation to keto-adaptation.[75]

Dr Akaka herbal medicine is a good remedy for Hiv/aids, I was a carrier of Hiv/aids and I saw a testimony on how Dr. Akaka cure Hiv/aids, I decided to contact Him, I contacted him and he guided me. I asked him for solutions and he started the remedies for my health. Thank God, now everything is fine, I’m cured by Dr. Akaka herbal medicine, I’m very thankful to Dr.Akaka, reach him on

Ketogenic and low-carbohydrate diets greatly increase reliance on fat oxidation [78–89], which would logically be expected to increase mitochondrial respiration and mtROS production and, in turn, induce mitohormesis. Furthermore, mtROS produced through RET appears to have particular relevance to hormetic adaptation, including increased lifespan [90]. Nutritional ketosis is likely to increase RET by altering the FADH2 to NADH ratio. As the primary source of acetyl CoA shifts from glycolysis to β-oxidation and ketolysis, this ratio increases, more than doubling for β-oxidation of longer-chain fatty acids. Electrons from FADH2 reduce the CoQ pool through complex II and ETF-QO, thereby increasing RET [91, 92]. This induction of RET by alteration of substrate availability can also be influenced by configuration of mtETC complexes into supercomplexes [90]. The greater potential for mtROS production through RET is consistent with evidence of mitochondria producing more H2O2 during oxidation of palmitoyl carnitine versus pyruvate [93, 94]. Furthermore, succinate is generated during ketolysis by succinyl-CoA:3-oxoacid CoA-transferase (SCOT), which also promotes RET by reducing the CoQ pool through complex II. Demonstrating the likely role of RET in mitohormesis, particularly within the context of nutritional ketosis, extension of lifespan in C. elegans through BHB treatment is dependent on both complex I function and expression of bioenergetic and antioxidant proteins [95].

The purpose of comments on our site is to expand knowledge, engage in thoughtful discussion, and learn more from readers.Criticism and skepticism can be far more useful than praise and unflinching belief. There’s an art and science to critical thinking and how to conduct yourself. There’s a multitude of fallacious appeals we could spell out, but a good rule of thumb is not to attack the person, attack the ideas. Don’t look for the flaws in the person, look for the flaws in the hypothesis. Let’s keep the brawling to movies depicting minor league hockey teams and political “news” shows.Thank you for adding to the discussion.
Would highly recommend listening to Tim Noakes and his trail in Cape Town – he was pretty much the trigger for me to switch to LCHF and now I am starting to educate myself on what I need to follow a path that works for me. The information on Verta is giving me more information to enable me to ask my Dr for what I want – I know this will be an uphill battle and this information will help me avoid getting railroaded into the so called norms. It also give the Dr a way out because then I am asking him to help me go down a certain path that he is not responsible for recommending if it bucks the system.

I have been positive of Herpes virus for 7 years, i have suffered of this disease, i lost friend and family just because they got to know about my problem and did not want to get infected, i suffered of multiple outbreak on my private area and face. I lost all hope because no treatment was working on my system till i read about a herbal doctor called Akaba . It was showed that Akaba is a herbal professional and he has herbs that cures HERPES, HEPATITIS, HIV/AIDS, ASEPSIS, CANCER, ALS, LOW SPERM COUNT, Kidney failure, Diabetes, Skin Problem and many disease so i contacted him for cure on HSV1-2 and he sent me his herbal that lasted for 1 Month and within 10days of taking the herbal all the blaster in my private area and face wiped off and when i consumed the medicine i went to see my doctor and i was confirmed Herpes Negative it is such a miracle and blessing to know a man like doctorosas you can as well contact him on Email: or call/Whatsapp +.2347083884565
Hey there… I’m new to keto, so I’m hoping my questions don’t come across as really stupid. Your bread looks great, and if I can get bread again, then that’s simply awesome. The pictures remind me of banana bread. Is there a way of adding this flavor without going insanely overboard on the carbs? And without that artificial banana taste? Also, would this recipe work as muffins? Thanks, Kelly
Following a low calorie diet: The exact mechanism whereby caloric restriction can slow or prevent cancer is unknown. It may be linked to: decreased blood glucose (less fuel for cancer cells), raised ketones (antiinflammatory, decreased oxidative stress, decreased ability to use glucose) . Animal models have shown that caloric restriction is closely related to tumour incidence and progression94.
I made your bread yesterday. You are right–it IS the best tasting keto bread yet! And I’ve made dozens of recipes through the years! I enlarged it–made a recipe and a half, and used a 9×5 glass pan. I confess, I did make a mess of it at one point. I used carton egg whites, and they didn’t do as well as fresh egg whites do. I ended up with a lot of foam on top and liquid on the bottom. I tried adding the dough to it, but had trouble smoothing out the many lumps. Soooo, I used my hand mixer to mix the whole mess. I put it in the pan and decided to just throw it out, thinking it could never turn into a good loaf of bread. But I went ahead and put it in the oven, and it turned out great! The rise was higher than any other almond flour bread I’ve ever made. So it’s obviously a very “forgivable” recipe. Many thanks!!
Additional research has raised the possibility that metabolic syndrome adversely affects neurocognitive performance. [70] In particular, metabolic syndrome has been blamed for accelerated cognitive aging. [71] Patients with mental illnesses also face increased cardiometabolic risk due at least in part to socioeconomic factors such as greater poverty and poorer access to medical care. [72, 73]
Preparing a keto breakfast is no different than preparing any other meal. Simply focus on your macros, then fill in those macros with nutrient-dense foods. For example, if you know you’re sticking to 70% fats, 25% protein, and 5% carbs, you know you need a protein source, a low carb vegetable, and a fat source, either for sauteing or by preparing a sauce.
I would like to point out that the metric conversion of 3/4 cup to 90g coconut flour as stated in your recipe is incorrect. Should be 84g per package labeling (Bob’s Red Mill). Unfortunately I made my first batch with 90g of coconut flour, and it was definitely not “pourable”. More like scoopable. I will try again with correct amount but thought I would point so you can update the recipe. Thank you!
Where does nutrition info come from? Nutrition facts are provided as a courtesy, sourced from the USDA Food Database. You can find individual ingredient carb counts we use in the Low Carb & Keto Food List. Carb count excludes sugar alcohols. Net carb count excludes both fiber and sugar alcohols, because these do not affect blood sugar in most people. We try to be accurate, but feel free to make your own calculations.

Insulin is the medication that will bring blood glucose down the fastest. Someone who uses mealtime insulin can take correction doses to lower blood glucose. This requires a thorough understanding of when to inject, how often to give correction doses, and how much insulin to use. You will need to work with your doctor or diabetes educator to learn how to do this.
Within the healthcare system people with type 2 diabetes are still often given advice on blood sugar-raising foods. It is not uncommon to receive nice, colored folders, like the Swedish one above. In this folder it’s stated that foods that raise blood sugar slowly are good for you. Examples of such foods are said to be fruit, rice, pasta, potatoes and bread!

I never believed i would be healed someday from Diabetes type 2.This disease started circulating all over my body and i have been taking treatment from my doctor, few weeks ago i came on search on the internet if i could get any information concerning the prevention of this disease, on my search i saw a testimony of someone who has been healed from (Diabetes 2 and Cancer) by this Man DR iyoriobhe and she also gave the email address of this man and advise we should contact him for any sickness that he would be of help, so i wrote to his mail telling him about my (Diabetes) he told me not to worry that i was going to be cured!! hmm i never believed it,, well after all the procedures and remedy given to me by this man few weeks later i started experiencing changes all over me as DR iyoriobhe assured me that i have cured, after some time i went to my Dr to confirmed if i have be finally healed, behold! it was TRUE, So friends my advise is if you have such sickness or any other at all you can email DR iyoriobhe on : doctoriyoriobhe4@gmail. com OR whatsapp him ,+1 606-654-3154 .
Proof the yeast. This involves mixing dry active yeast with water that’s just warm to touch (between 105-110°F to be precise) and maple syrup or honey for 7 minutes until foamy. And before you scream sugar (!!) remember that the yeast will feed on such sugar to emit carbon dioxide, so it doesn’t affect the carb count at all. And yes, this is a scientific fact.
Brandi, Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about such a severe allergy! We carefully tested and re-tested this recipe and this is the best version we came up with. In order to come up with a recipe that doesn’t use coconut flour, we’d have to play around with not only alternative flours, but also adjust the amount of liquid (because coconut flour absorbs more liquid than most other flours), and additionally, potentially alter the bake temperature and bake time as well. I have a recipe for Paleo Sandwich Bread on my other blog that doesn’t use coconut flour that you might be interested in: I hope this is helpful!
