First I tried using coconut flour only. The batter was very thick and pasty and the resulting bread was very firm and dry, like a really dry biscuit. It did, however, keep its shape well and toasted up evenly golden-brown in a skillet with oil. I thought about trying again with more liquid, but that wouldn’t solve its fatal flaw: the strong, overwhelming coconut flavor. Even chicken and sun-dried tomato pesto could barely cover it up.
Hey Maria, I am baking my third loaf of your amazing bread. I’ve been having trouble with it rising and keeping risen, but it is still delicious. This time it has risen to new heights and I’m hoping it stay high. I don’t usually make comments because I almost always make changes to recipes. I added onion powder, garlic powder and caraway seeds. It bothers me when people give recipes poor ratings after they have changed them. Anyway, the reason for my comment is to thank you and tell you how brilliant, amazing and stupendous you are. Using psyllium is genius. I have been making various low carb breads for years, some that I invented, others not. Anyway, nothing I have made has ever come close to the taste or texture of yours. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You need to take your medicine, but sometimes, meds for the other things that ail you can raise your blood sugar. We’ve got a list of them here. If you take one or more of these, talk to your doctor about alternative meds that could control your other conditions without affecting your blood sugar. Remember that everyone is different. Just because you take a medication on the list doesn’t mean that it raises your blood sugar—or, if it does, that it raises it enough to worry about. If your doctor says it’s safe to do so, you can stop taking a suspect med for a few days, carefully monitor your blood sugar, and see if it improves. If you want to be a proper scientist, you should then re-start the med to see if the sugar goes up again. And don’t try this at home! Do it only under your doc’s guidance.
Menopause is the time in a woman's life when menstrual periods permanently stop, also called the "change of life." Menopause symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, irregular vaginal bleeding, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, urinary incontinence, weight gain, and emotional symptoms such as mood swings. Treatment of menopausal symptoms varies, and should be discussed with your physician.
This poses a real evolutionary dilemma. We need an enormous amount of energy just to not die, but the single most important organ in our body (also quite energy hungry in its own right) can’t access the most abundant source of energy in our body (i.e., fat) and is, instead, almost solely dependent on the one macronutrient we can’t store beyond a trivial amount (i.e., glucose). Obviously our species wouldn’t be here today if this were the end of the story. But, to understand how we survived requires one more trip down biochemistry memory lane. In the figure below (also included and described in the video) I gloss over a pretty important detail.
The key sign of metabolic syndrome is central obesity, also known as visceral, male-pattern or apple-shaped adiposity. It is characterized by adipose tissue accumulation predominantly around the waist and trunk. Other signs of metabolic syndrome include high blood pressure, decreased fasting serum HDL cholesterol, elevated fasting serum triglyceride level, impaired fasting glucose, insulin resistance, or prediabetes. Associated conditions include hyperuricemia; fatty liver (especially in concurrent obesity) progressing to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease; polycystic ovarian syndrome in women and erectile dysfunction in men; and acanthosis nigricans.

If you feel like you're going overboard with animal products on the keto diet, this chia pudding from Julie's Lifestyle provides a change of pace — it's vegan, made with coconut milk for creamy texture and decadent flavor. It's also incredibly satiating: Chia seeds are a great source of fiber, and protein powder and healthy fat filled-MCT coconut oil will keep you satisfied all morning.
β-hydroxybutyrate and, in some cases, acetoacetate contribute to protection against oxidative stress by decreasing production of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS), by increasing expression or protein content of antioxidant enzymes through histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibition, and by directly scavenging the hydroxyl radical (•OH). Upregulation of antioxidant enzymes through HDAC inhibition includes manganese superoxide dismutase (SOD2), catalase, and metallothionein II and is likely mediated by the transcription factor forkhead box O 3a (FOXO3a).
Hepatitis B-Genital herpes wasn’t easy But as time has passed, I have slowly come to terms with my Hepatitis B-Genital herpes, status and try to tackle it with a positive attitude. In mid-2015 I became quite ill. I developed persistent flu-like symptoms, headaches, a nagging cough and sores that wouldn’t heal. My skin felt as if it was crawling, my legs ached, I felt nauseous and lost weight. Then exhaustion hit. It was an indescribable tiredness and no matter how much I slept I never felt rested. In 2015 I was hospitalized when my CD4 count nosedived to 86 (Hepatitis B, Herpes-negative people have a CD4 count of between 700 and 1,000; a CD4 count of below 200 is considered dangerously low). It was a terrible time. There are lot to say about Dr. Larry but i can only mention few right now, this man is a very great, good and powerful. Dr. Larry, all thanks to him for given me a second chance, if you are out there passing through any problem, you can contact him today on his email via: email@example.com or what-sap him now on +2348163807836), and i know that he will help you also.
I just made this bread today and MAN, IS IT GOOD!!!! I realized I used salted butter and pink sea salt and maybe that gave it an added boost too. It was super hard for me to try and fold in the almond flour mixture to the egg whites, but now that I watch the video, I see I could have mixed the food processor part more first. I was so scared to collapse my egg whites. I also see your bread was the same size as mine, so I must have done ok. I will say again, WOW it is sooo good! I already ate two pieces with butter, just because. oops! Good thing it was only 1 carb each. =)))) Thank you, thank you!
Make nonstarchy vegetables the star of your plate, taking up half of it. “For anybody at risk of diabetes, it's important to take your vegetable intake to the next level,” Wright says. “Balancing your plate with half vegetables will fill you up without loading you down with tons of carbs.” Credit the fiber and water in the vegetables for helping keep you satisfied.
While there have not been large studies that show the relationship between the ketogenic diet and cancer, we will be publishing a case study about that topic. The author failed to comment that pediatric patients with epilepsy are on the diet for usually about 2 years with no harmful effects. Before the false studies about heart disease and fat, the low carb diet was a respected way to lose weight. Studies into our metabolism show we can use both fat and carbohydrate as fuel. So stepping away from our high carb diet- I am sorry to say that we eat more carbs since the 70s with most of it processed and we now use high fructose corn syrup to sweeten products and we have a wide spread childhood obesity problem. If cholesterol is a concern try plant sterols and stenals to block cholesterol from the receptors in the body. So much more can be said about a keto diet than this article states
One of the hardest things to do when I travel is to find something to take for lunch OTHER than salads–that gets old fast! This will be a HUGE help so that I can add “bread” back into my lunch menus! Thank you VERY much! So fast, so easy, and VERY usable for those of us stuck in hotel rooms with limited options for eating in. It really does have the texture of whole-grain type of bread!! You’re a life saver! 😀
Look no further for keto breakfast recipes: This may be the only list you’ll ever need. There’s something for everyone here, including paleo, egg-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, and Whole30 options. (Only enjoy coffee or tea in the morning? We got you covered there, too.) Best of all? These recipes are all under 10 net carbs per serving — and most are much lower than that.
^ Yiu H. Hui (February 1985). Principles and issues in nutrition. Wadsworth Health Sciences Division. p. 91. Retrieved 2014-05-19. Eskimos actually consume more carbohydrates than most nutritionists have assumed. Because Eskimos frequently eat their meat raw and frozen, they take in more glycogen than a person purchasing meat with a lower glycogen content in a grocery store. The Eskimo practice of preserving a whole seal or bird carcass under an intact whole skin with a thick layer of blubber also permits some proteins to ferment into carbohydrates.
Another lipid marker of interest is blood triglyceride levels. Blood triglycerides are frequently elevated in the metabolic syndrome, and are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease111. A common misconception is that consuming high levels of fat leads to persistently high levels of blood triglycerides. However, there is data that suggests that a high fat diet does not affect blood triglyceride levels, and may even lower them21 ,112, especially following a period of adaptation113.
If for any reason you get a fail…a spongy loaf , or one with a buble don’t throw it away. Cut off the top bubble and cut into squares or triangles then taost for great pita like chips…cube the bottom sprinkle on some spices and toast or rebake for croutons…I have had my successes and failures wih this loaf but the ingredients are too expensive to waste…another idea would be to toast the bottom after you slice the top off and then add butter, garlic and cheese for a good garlic bread.
I made this after watching your video – which made all the difference since I realized I could use a electric mixer. I also measured carefully by weighing the egg whites……and it came out PERFECTLY. I’ve been hungry for a piece of toast with my egg in the morning, smothered in your ccnut oil/mac nut spread and cinnamon. Well, I didn’t wait until morning. Couldn’t resist two pieces toasted with my afternoon tea just now. Thanks so much, Maria.
The easiest way to make sure that your carb intake is appropriate is to count carbohydrates. It is a simplified way to evaluate foods based on their nutritional value. The best place to start when counting is to aim for 45 to 60 grams of carbohydrates per meal and roughly 15 to 30 grams for each snack in between meals. You may have to adjust this based on your individual needs and your blood sugar readings. It is a lot easier to calculate the carbohydrates when you have a food with a label, but many foods do not. Check the serving size on the label to be sure that you are counting correctly. The US Department of Agriculture has a website that allows you to type in any food and it will give you the nutritional values. Check it out at https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/. A few examples of 15 grams of carbs include:

This way of eating has made me feel better in so many ways. I just had such a craving For the texture of cake or bread last night that I had a piece of cake and a sandwich wrap! I knew I had to find a way to satisfy that craving and considered eating a sandwich once a week. Now I can do it without too many carbs. Thanks for taking the time to make it come out right. No more carb BINGES for me.
I have made this bread and as everybody knows it is wonderful. I have one problem though, my son loved it but the next day he told me he was gasy and a bit painful. I know that fiber causes some gas but I was wondering if you know from your experience with so many people, if this will go away after a while or does it mean that he shouldn’t eat any psyllium husk anymore…
A little more than 9.2% of pregnant women have gestational diabetes. It is very common that all women are tested during their pregnancy. If you haven’t yet, bring it up to your physician’s attention. The cause is really unknown, but doctors believe that it is because the extra hormones that are released during pregnancy hinder the insulin sensitivity and increase the need for more insulin. It is very important to keep blood sugar levels under control because high blood sugars can lead to complications such as:
Hi Jodi, I haven’t tried that, but don’t think it would work well for this recipe. First, yeast needs sugar (for it to consume – it’s not typically in the end result), so you’d need to add that. But also, just with how we are making the bread fluffy with beaten egg whites, I don’t think yeast would work. If you want to try adding yeast to a low carb bread, I would do it with this low carb bread recipe instead.
Eat 15 g less carbohydrates at your next meal. While skipping meals is not a healthy option for individuals with high blood sugar, decreasing the number of carbohydrates consumed at the next meal can help force your body to use the excess sugar. Check your blood sugar an hour after the meal and if your sugar level has decreased but is still high, decrease the next meal by 30 g of carbohydrates.
I have been suffering from (HERPES) disease since last year without hope for cure and i was miserable until this year i was checking on new developments about this virus then i saw how different persons talks about getting cure for herpes through a particular herbalist called Excel so I Contacted him through his email (Excelherbalcure@gmail.com) and he responded with instructions about what he needs to prepare the herbal medication which i did and he sent it to me in LA and after taking the herbal medicine as he instructed i went back to the hospital few months later and the test result shows i,m negative and now i,m completely free of genital Herpes thanks to Dr.Excel for his urgent response, you can call his personal cell phone +1 (859) 429 1007
I was recently diagnosed with diabetes which I had had uncontrolled for an estimated seven years. I have done a lot of research and while there is a lot of diabetes information available, little was helpful for whatever reasons – too simplistic in nature, didn’t answer hard hitting questions, or didn’t apply forward thinking scenarios. This article is one of the best I have read because it is both clear and concise and givens you all of your essential important information in a single place – something everyone needs. Even after all of my research, I still learned a couple new things reading this article. Excellent reference.
In 1977 and 1978, Gerald B. Phillips developed the concept that risk factors for myocardial infarction concur to form a "constellation of abnormalities" (i.e., glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinemia, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hypertension) associated not only with heart disease, but also with aging, obesity and other clinical states. He suggested there must be an underlying linking factor, the identification of which could lead to the prevention of cardiovascular disease; he hypothesized that this factor was sex hormones.
In addition to healthy fats, Michalczyk recommends incorporating foods that contain protein into your A.M. eats. “Protein is important at breakfast for many reasons, one being the fact that it takes your body longer to digest protein, which means you’ll feel satiated for longer,” she says. It’s also crucial for ensuring your body has the nutritional building blocks it needs for optimal function throughout the day.
I’m discouraged to see that nowhere in the article nor in the comments is there a mention of a diet’s best fit to genetics. Consider if someone is an APOE E2 carrier and/or has certain polymorphisms of the APO5 gene. These are quite rare in Okinawa but much more prevalent in the USA (12% of the population). According to a number of well-designed studies, these genetic characteristics point to a higher fat, lower carbohydrate diet as beneficial and even a “moderate” carb diet as problematic.
I still don’t know the right words to express my gratitude to the Great Dr. Maggi. After been diagnosed of HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS in 2014, i was given so many health prescription and advice with no improvement, I totally lost hope, until i found testimonies of Great Dr. Maggi in an online research and on Facebook, Like anybody would be, I was very skeptical about contacting him, but i later did and he opened up to me and told me what was involved and he started the remedies for my health. Thank God, i was cured from herpes by the herbal medication I received from him. I never thought that herpes can be cured, from the bottom of my heart I’m truly grateful,i pray you have long life so you can help many more people on earth with your herbal medical support, You can Email him via his email Maggiherbalcenter@gmail.com or for easy and fast communication call him on +1(662) 967-1783 you can also add him on whats-app with this number , +1(312)767-3460. one thing i love most about DR Maggi is honestly, and he is very polite with his customers, everything he told me was what he did, and his herbal medicine are very affordable.
