Physical activity can have immediate benefit in lowering blood sugar and also long-term benefit by helping to stabilize blood sugar levels.

4.) Fill the dough into a loaf tin lined with baking paper. If you don’t use a silicone loaf pan line ALL SIDES with parchment paper so the bread will release easily. I just made this keto bread, and it is amazing! It’s better than most bread I’ve tasted! I made mine with bacon, American cheese, Brie, and Camembert (because I wanted to be extra). If you use bacon, cook it to how you normally like it in a seperate pan, as the bacon doesn’t cook much extra while baking. I think I used a little too much butter, but, oh boy, was it nice and moist!

You need to take your medicine, but sometimes, meds for the other things that ail you can raise your blood sugar. We’ve got a list of them here. If you take one or more of these, talk to your doctor about alternative meds that could control your other conditions without affecting your blood sugar. Remember that everyone is different. Just because you take a medication on the list doesn’t mean that it raises your blood sugar—or, if it does, that it raises it enough to worry about. If your doctor says it’s safe to do so, you can stop taking a suspect med for a few days, carefully monitor your blood sugar, and see if it improves. If you want to be a proper scientist, you should then re-start the med to see if the sugar goes up again. And don’t try this at home! Do it only under your doc’s guidance.

I made this over the weekend. I weighed all of my ingredients and it looked beautiful when it came out of the oven. I baked it for the 75 minutes. It fell after it cooled and when I cut it open, it was purple and a little gummy even after 75 minutes of baking time. After toasting the slices, it tasted very good and I even served it to company. The kids all thought it was cool that the bread was purple. Should I reduce the water? If so, by how much? I will try and get Jay Robb psyllium husk powder in the future. I used Vitacost brand and it tasted fine but, it is not always easy to get people to try purple bread. Thanks for the recipe. Most likely this wasn’t fully cooked if it stuck to the parchment paper, as I never have to grease it, but I did add a note to the post that you could do that to be on the safe side. I think the previous recipe and post were not clear enough on how to make sure that it’s done, so I updated them and hope that will help. I’d love to know if that made a difference if you try it again. But, this bread is more similar to fluffy pre-sliced white bread than a crusty bread, so I still would not expect a crust. If you are looking for a crusty bread, try this almond flour bread instead.

My first try at this recipe –lower half was gummy. Crust tasted amazing to I’m eating the ends as toast. I’m too frugal to throw away 3 cups of almond flour, so I cubed up the rest of the loaf, put it in to bake at 350 for 30 minutes or so. Cubes are great on salad -taste like toasted almond/sesame. Now I’m making savory bread pudding with about 2 cups of the cubes (6 eggs, 3/4c almond milk, 1/4c cream, cooked bacon bits, shallots, basil and chives). Baking in muffin tins. Will be taking them for lunches.

Hi Cindy, nut flour breads do not rise as much as wheat breads. Also, I used a small bread tin in the post – if you use a regular size bread pan your bread will end up flatter. What you can try next time is to try to keep the dough nice and fluffy, trying to keep as much air inside as possible (for example, not press it into the pan as much as you can). You could also try to whisk the egg whites until they’re stiff and fold them under last, which will make your dough lighter (=more air). I hope this helps

I can have sandwiches again or a quick piece Of toast when I’m in a hurry to get out the door. I was skeptical about the xanthan gum since I tried a recipe using psyllium husk powder. Ok I will try this with the physillium since no sub will work. 🙂 I have a Q though-I read that too much physillium may interfere with how medicines work-my son is on 5 seizure meds, and we are going keto to help with his seizures. This looks like a good and tasty bread to replace his beloved loaf…what would you say is a safe amount for him to eat daily or weekly? This is brilliant. I made it today not in a mug but a cereal bowl. So it was bigger. I could only eat half. Rather filling. I layered it with cream cheese and a thin slice of smoked ham for mid afternoon snack. Slight bitter after taste which i think is from the baking powder. I am going to make it again with herbs like some others have suggested. Thanks HBK😚

When preparing keto bread recipes, look out for low-carb ingredients that could contribute to brain fog and inflammation. Skip recipes that require conventional dairy or yeast, and avoid eating common keto bread ingredients like psyllium husk, xanthan gum, and nuts or nut butters too often — these can contain mold or irritate your gut. Grass-fed butter, ghee, and coconut flour are the few exceptions that will still produce a stellar loaf.
