What you need to know about borderline diabetes Borderline diabetes, also known as prediabetes, is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough for a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. This article explains the importance of testing, how to monitor the disease, and how to reverse the condition. Read on to learn more. Read now
“Whole fruit is nothing but good for people who have prediabetes,” Wright says. Just don't consume produce in the form of juice or smoothies. “Though a smoothie does give one a concentrated source of nutrients, they are often packed with calories that don’t satisfy our hunger as there is little fiber in them,” Denison says. So rather than drinking your fruit, eat it, spacing it out over your day.

For monitoring purposes, the way that the A1c is reported is in the process of changing. Traditionally, in the United States, the A1c has been reported as a percentage, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) has recommended that people with diabetes strive to keep their A1c below 7%. While this is still generally true, more than a decade of national and international efforts to improve and standardize the A1c test and its reporting led to the release of a consensus statement in 2007 (and an update in 2010) by the ADA, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC), the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes, and the International Diabetes Federation. These joint statements and the completion of a study called ADAG (A1c-Derived Average Glucose) that further examined the relationship between blood glucose concentrations and A1c led to a recommendation that A1c be reported worldwide in two ways:
Uncontrolled type 2 diabetes (also known as adult-onset diabetes) is associated with all sorts of very bad things: infections, angry nerve endings causing chronic pain, damaged kidneys, vision loss and blindness, blocked arteries causing heart attacks, strokes, and amputations… So of course, it made good sense that the lower the blood sugar, the lower the chances of bad things happening to our patients.

However, in an effort to smooth the transition to the new units, as well as to help both physicians and patients appreciate the clinical context of various hemoglobin A1c levels, many laboratories are now reporting eAG (estimated average glucose) along with every hemoglobin A1c level. [12] Although the correlation is far from perfect and the use of this parameter has been somewhat controversial, [13] it has received support from many major organizations, including the American Diabetes Association, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, and the College of American Pathologists. The equation to calculate eAG (in mg/dL) from hemoglobin A1c (in %) is as follows:

Unfortunately, there really are no symptoms or signs of prediabetes. It almost always is diagnosed by chance during a medical screening or routine bloodwork. This is why it is important to get screened, especially if you are overweight or have family members with diabetes or pre-diabetes. However, the most common sign associated with prediabetes is being overweight.
In type 2 diabetes the body has an increasingly harder time to handle all the sugar in the blood. Large amounts of the blood sugar-lowering hormone insulin are produced, but it’s still not enough, as insulin sensitivity decreases. At the time of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, people usually have ten times more insulin in their bodies than normal. As a side effect, this insulin stores fat and causes weight gain, something that has often been in progress for many years before the disease was diagnosed.
High blood sugar levels, or hyperglycemia, is a condition in which glucose concentrations in the blood are too high. This condition is commonly found in individuals who have diabetes and is caused when the body does not produce enough of or is resistant to the effects of the hormone insulin. When high blood sugar is left untreated, it can lead to organ and tissue damage, coma and death. Monitoring your blood sugar levels is a good way to address high sugar immediately and there are several ways to lower sugar levels in the blood.
What are the ideal levels of blood sugar? A blood sugar or blood glucose chart identifies ideal levels throughout the day, especially before and after meals. The charts allow doctors to set targets and monitor diabetes treatment, and they help people with diabetes to self-assess. Beyond the difference in units used to report them, the A1c represents an average over time while your blood glucose reflects what is happening in your body now. Your blood glucose will capture the changes in your blood sugar that occur on a daily basis, the highs and the lows. Each blood glucose is a snapshot and each is different. The A1c is an indication that "in general" your glucose has been elevated over the last few months or "in general" it has been normal. It is inherently not as sensitive as a blood glucose. However, if your day-to-day glucose control is stable (good or bad), then both the A1c and blood glucose should reflect this. It is important to remember the time lag associated with the A1c. Good glucose control for the past 2-3 weeks will not significantly affect the A1c result for several more weeks.
A short note is in order with respect to hemoglobin variants. As long as one normal beta chain exists (eg, sickle cell trait, or hemoglobin C trait), one can measure hemoglobin A1c. Even in some cases with no normal beta chains (eg, sickle cell disease, or SC disease), the abnormal beta chains are glycated and can be measured by some methods. In other cases (eg, hereditary persistence of fetal hemoglobin), no beta chains exist to glycate, so glycated hemoglobin is not present. In all of these cases, though, the RBC lifespan issue may take precedence over the ability (or the lack thereof) to measure glycated hemoglobin and must be kept in mind. As noted earlier, regular fingerstick glucose monitoring throughout the course of the day can provide reliable data in these situations. [8]
Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure, nontraumatic lower limb amputations, and blindness among adults. Diabetes is the nation’s seventh leading cause of death and a major cause of heart disease and stroke. As little as a 5-10% decrease in body weight can improve insulin action, decrease fasting glucose concentrations, and reduce the need for some diabetes medications. Overweight individuals who lose as little as 10-15 pounds and exercise at least 30 minutes a day five times a week can reduce their risk of developing diabetes by nearly 60%.
I am very happy today to share this amazing testimony on how Dr. MAGGI the herbal doctor was able to cure me from my HIV Virus with his herbal medicine. I have been a HIV patient for almost 8 months now and have tried different methods of treatment to ensure that I am cured of this terrible disease, but none worked for me, so I had to leave everything to God to handle as I was a Christian who had faith that one day God would intervene in my life, yet I felt so sad and desperate as I was losing almost everything due to my illness, A few months ago while I was surfing the internet I saw different recommendation about Dr MAGGI on how he have been using his herbal Medicine to treat and cure people, these people advice we contact Dr. MAGGI for any problem that would help immediately, I contacted Dr MAGGI ,and I told him how I got his contact and also about my disease, after some time Dr.MAGGI, told me to have faith that he would prepare medicine for me a medication of herbal herbs, he told me I would take this medicine for a few weeks and also asked for my home address so as possible for him to submit the drug for me, so my good friends after all the process and everything Dr MAGGI, actually sent me the medicine, I took it as I was directed by Dr. MAGGI,, after a few weeks passed, while on Dr.MAGGI medication I began to experience changes in my body, I had to call my doctor at the hospital for some blood test after test my hospital doctor told me that I was no longer with the Hiv virus and my blood is pretty good, I can’t even believe this, Friends well today i am Hiv Negative and i want everyone to know that there is a cure for Hiv for those who will contact Dr MAGGI after reading my testimony, you can kindly contact Dr. MAGGI on Email:Maggiherbalcenter@gmail.com or call/whatsap him +2348148487280,or you can also check him on his Webs:https://drmaggiherbalcenter.webs.com .God bless you all..

Set small goals. “Don’t try to transform your body all at once,” advises McLaughlin. “That can be a recipe for failure.” Instead, set small, realistic targets, such as walking around the block four times a week and having dessert only on the weekend rather than every day. After these goals become habits, move on to your next objective. You’ll gain a feeling of accomplishment, while inching towards your ultimate weight-loss goal.

The key with diabetes is always consistency. A steady intake of the right amount of carbohydrates helps in keeping things under better control and prevents blood sugar spikes. Although many people believe that low-carb is best, that is not true during pregnancy. You need the carbohydrates for the growth of the fetus and to keep your energy level up. Talk to your doctor and nutritionist about what is best for you.
Evaluate Your Food Choices: A registered dietitian (RD) or certified diabetes educator (CDE) can help you create a meal plan respects your preferred foods and also reflects good-for-your-blood-glucose-level foods. The goal of the healthy food plan is to assure that you are controlling your blood glucose level by keeping it in a healthy, normal range. Your meal plan should be adjusted to be comfortable and satisfying to you, taking into account your overall health, physical activity, and what you like to eat. There are no diets out there that will work nearly as well as one that has been worked out with your likes and dislikes, cultural preferences,
I have been suffering from (HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS) disease for the past four years and had constant pain. During the first year, I had faith in God that i would be healed someday. This disease started circulating all over my body and i have been taking treatment from my doctor, few weeks ago i came on search on the internet if i could get any information concerning the prevention of this disease, on my search i saw a testimony of someone who has been healed from Herpes Simplex Virus by this Man Dr Oniha and she also gave the email address of this man and advise anyone to contact him for any kind of problem that he would be of help, so i wrote to Dr Oniha telling him about my (Herpes Virus) he told me not to worry that i was going to be cured!! Though i never believed it,, well after all the procedures and remedy given to me by this man few weeks later i started experiencing changes all over me as Dr Oniha assured me, after some time i went to my doctor to confirmed if i have be finally healed behold it was TRUE, So friends if anyone have such problem and need help contact Dr Oniha via email onihaherbalhome@gmail.com. He began an eating plan based on lean protein, beans and other legumes, and veggies. He could eat unlimited quantities of some veggies, including broccoli, asparagus, and cauliflower. The plan also called for zero-calorie drinks only, water preferred, and a cheat day each week when Daniel could eat anything he wanted. It was easy for him to fit the plan into his life, and most importantly it worked.
During the A1C test, a member of your health care team takes a sample of blood by inserting a needle into a vein in your arm or pricking the tip of your finger with a small, pointed lancet. If the blood is taken from a vein, the blood sample is sent to a lab for analysis. Blood from a finger prick is usually analyzed in your doctor's office for same-day results. You can return to your usual activities immediately.
There’s one final glucose test that’s both easy to do and specifically useful for diagnosing prediabetes. The Random Plasma Glucose test (RPG) is great because it can be done anytime and doesn’t require you to fast beforehand. Basically, this test takes a random sample of your blood to get an overview of your glucose levels. The problem with a “random” glucose sample is consistency.

Health care professionals may use the A1C test early in pregnancy to see if a woman with risk factors had undiagnosed diabetes before becoming pregnant. Since the A1C test reflects your average blood glucose levels over the past 3 months, testing early in pregnancy may include values reflecting time before you were pregnant. The glucose challenge test or the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) are used to check for gestational diabetes, usually between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. If you had gestational diabetes, you should be tested for diabetes no later than 12 weeks after your baby is born. If your blood glucose is still high, you may have type 2 diabetes. Even if your blood glucose is normal, you still have a greater chance of developing type 2 diabetes in the future and should get tested every 3 years.

Even if you aren’t overweight and don’t have any of the risk factors, your doctor may want to start testing your blood glucose level every three years beginning when you’re 45. That’s a smart thing to do because the risk of developing prediabetes (and therefore type 2 diabetes) increases with age. Because there are so many possible complications of diabetes (e.g., heart problems and nerve problems), it’s a good idea to be vigilant about detecting blood glucose abnormalities early.

Should the focus of nutrition therapy for type 2 diabetes be on weight loss or improved blood glucose control? Table 1 shows that achievable weight loss has a modest effect on A1C levels. However, in several studies, weight loss was not associated with improvement in glycemia.19,20 Furthermore, other nutrition therapy interventions that tend to focus more on metabolic control and less on weight loss have been shown to improve A1C levels by 1–2%.21
